Liverpool set to play Monterrey in FIFA Club World Cup semi-final as Mexican side beat Al Sadd

Liverpool will face Monterrey in the semi-final of the FIFA Club World Cup next week.

The Mexican side beat Al Sadd, from Qatar, 3-2 in their match on Saturday evening and progress to the last four.

Among the goalscorers for the winning side was Rogelio Funes Mori who is the twin brother of former Everton defender Ramiro Funes Mori.

The scoring was opened by Leonel Vangioni after 23 minutes before Funes Mori added a second just before the break.

Baghdad Bounedjah got one back for Al Sadd but Carlos Rodriguez restored their two goal advantage.

Monterrey had a late scare when Abdelkarim Hassan netted for the Qatari side one minute from the end but they held on to grab the win.

Liverpool will now head to Qatar for their semi-final clash with the Mexican side on Wednesday.

In the other last four match, Al-Hilal will play Brazilian side Flamengo after Befatimbi Gomis scored the only goal of the game against ES Tunis.
